Blackjack Lab

A lab for learning to count cards properly and for doing blackjack research in the spirit of Edward Thorp: derive things, prove them by computation, and practise until they’re automatic.
It has three parts:
- Engine. A small, tested blackjack engine. Rules are modelled precisely (number of decks, S17/H17, DAS, doubling limits, splits, resplitting aces, surrender, peek/ENHC, payout, penetration), and shoes are seeded so every hand can be reproduced.
- Practice app. A Qt6 desktop app with a basic strategy drill, graded against rule-specific charts. Every hand is saved together with its exact rules.
- Research notebooks. Jupyter notebooks for the maths. The first project is re-deriving basic strategy from scratch (see the blackjack notes).

|---|---|
| Engine (rules, shoe, round, history, simulation) | done, 500+ tests |
| Basic strategy drill, rules, chart, session stats, hand history | done |
| Counting, deviations, full table, simulator, analysis | planned |
